After many years of working with grassland aerators, Edwards Agricultural Supplies saw that many improvements could be made and when their main supplier decided to no longer manufacture aerators Edwards Agricultural Supplies decided to develop a design of their own to a very robust specification. This experience allows Edwards Agricultural Supplies to make bespoke machines to fit your tractors capabilities. Aerators are available with both fixed width and folding arm designs. Careful consideration to each and every part and feature gives years of service and value for money. Bespoke designs are available if you think you want something slightly out of the ordinary.

Edwards Agricultural Supplies Air-Rators provide robust engineering and working efficiency giving many benefits to grassland productivity and the environment. They are designed to relieve all the problems known to arise through soil compaction.

We have a number Air-Rators available for hire from 1 - 4.5m wide and we frequently have refurbished machines available for sale which we refurbish to incorporate Edwards Agricultural Supplies expert design for reliability and longevity. We also stock a range of replacement blades for various manufacturers.

Truly compacted soil will contain very little oxygen, which in turn will reduce the aerobic bacterial activity within the soil. The potential rainfall runoff and watercourse pollution will be high, and root structure impeded.

The introduction of oxygen increases the open structure of the soil allowing it to breath, this in turn will increase microbiological activity and worm population. Increased root growth reduces poaching and sod pulling.

Did You Know?

  • Aerating grassland can increase potential grazing by 4 weeks! Saving £££
  • The Soil will warm up quicker in the Spring encouraging new growth 2 weeks before compacted land
  • The Soil will retain heat in Autumn allowing grass to continue in growth for a further 2 weeks
  • Aerating soil increases slurry uptake and reduces the need for the addition of NPK! Saving £££
  • Aerating helps free up bound iron
  • Aerating soil increases rainfall absorption and reduces watercourse pollution
  • Aerating soil prevents soil erosion and helps diffuse water pollution.

The Reduction and Prevention of Agricultural Diffuse Pollution (England) Regulations 2018 state: You must ensure you prevent livestock compacting soil by trampling it (poaching) within five metres of inland freshwater or coastal water.

Edwards bespoke Air-Rators are the most efficient implements for relieving compaction in grassland and deliver:

  • Increased grassland productivity
  • Better utilisation of slurry
  • Reduced expenditure on NPK
  • Lower carbon footprint
